iPad Illustrations

In 2012 I saw the David Hockney show “A Bigger Picture” at The Royal Academy. I was hugely excited to see the pictures he had made on his iPad. I had been wanting to work in a medium that could give me this level of immediacy, easily enabling the use of colour as well as line. I liked that the iPad was the same size as my A5 sketchbook, and I stopped drawing in my pad with a pencil and would practice every day on my iPad with a stylus. I tried out different ways of making pictures, moving away from bold lines, and making more lifelike images.
